Electric Tears by Laurie Cooper
The scars she has
Do not show externally
But she has been beaten
Mentally
Her self-esteem
Obliterated
Instead of a blackened eye
She has a tattered soul
Lying lifeless in the dark
She has lost the will to live
Her entire life
It seems her existence
Was cursed from the start
Only fed with negativity
Ridiculed and mocked
She never understood
Why no one could love her
What is love
Does it even exist
All she has known is heartache
And pain
But for once she has the
Chance
To make it all end
End the suffering
End the fiery rain
That burns inside her belly
Barren like the desert
Her well has run dry
No one was there to catch her
When she started to fall
She swallows a fistful of pills
To end it all...

There are many forms of abuse. Mental abuse can be just as devastating as physical abuse. While you may see physical scars heal, mental scars don't always heal so easily.
Please think before you speak. Words can cut like a knife and you never know just how deeply what you say can impact the other person. There is a reason why bullying is causing many of our young people to take their own lives. Parents, talk to your children. We need to instill in them the need to love themselves as individuals and as God made them.
If you as a parent find yourself incapable of doing this, get the help you need. Adults, do the same. We must learn to love ourselves first. I pray God touches the hearts of those who feel alone and lost. It is not God's will that any of us suffer. I pray none of us has to ever deal with this. Uplift, don't tear down.
